Man Sentenced for Unlawful Distribution of a Firearm
A 29-year-old Philippi man has been sentenced to 48 months of incarceration for selling a firearm to someone prohibited from owning one.
Calvin Crockett Mullins pleaded guilty in December 2021 to one count of “Unlawful Distribution of a Firearm.” Mullins admitted to selling a 16-gauge shotgun to a person prohibited from having firearms in February 2020 in Barbour County.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon S. Flower prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, while the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives investigated.
Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the case.
The crime was discovered in February 2020, with Mullins selling the 16-gauge shotgun to someone who was not allowed to possess firearms.
Mullins, 29, will serve 48 months in prison for his crime, a sentence that is a result of his guilty plea in December 2021.
U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld announced the sentencing, stating that Mullins’ actions put the community at risk.
