Jackson, Miss. – A Jones County man will spend two years in a federal prison cell after being sentenced for a brutal assault on the Choctaw Indian Reservation. Tyreese Khalia Kejuan Smith, 23, was handed down the 24-month sentence for assault with intent to commit a kidnapping.
The shocking attack occurred in the Bogue Homa Community of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. Court documents reveal that Smith committed the heinous crime against an adult tribal female.
Smith was indicted by a federal grand jury in September 2023, and his guilty plea was accepted on January 30, 2024. The U.S. Attorney and FBI officials made the announcement, praising the collaborative efforts of various law enforcement agencies.
