Universal City Felon Faleide Sentenced to 5 Years for Gun Possession

SAN ANTONIO – A Universal City man, Joshua Conan Faleide, 43, has been handed a five-year federal prison sentence for being a felon in possession of a firearm. This comes after authorities discovered three loaded firearms, including an SKS rifle mounted on a bipod in Faleide’s hotel room during an arrest in April 2020.

Court documents reveal that Faleide had two explosives-related warrants for his arrest at the time of his apprehension. The Bexar County Fire Marshal’s Office (BCFMO) and Universal City Police Department conducted the operation that led to Faleide’s capture.

Faleide, who has a prior felony conviction for Assault on a Public Servant in Bexar County, pleaded guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm on July 29, 2021. U.S. Attorney Ashley C. Hoff emphasized the importance of prosecuting violent actors like Faleide who endanger communities with illegal firearms.

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Special Agent in Charge Fred Milanowski commented that Faleide’s sentence demonstrates the priority of removing felons from possession of firearms and protecting community safety. The ATF and BCFMO investigated the case, with Universal City Police Department assisting with the arrest.

Assistant U.S. Attorney William Calve prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The sentencing is part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Program, which aims to reduce violent crime through a joint federal, state, and local effort. PSN identifies pressing violent crime problems in the community and develops comprehensive solutions, focusing enforcement efforts on violent offenders and partnering with local programs for lasting reductions in crime.
