Willie Jordan, Wire Fraud, Pennsylvania 2023

PHILADELPHIA — Willie Jordan, 68, of Upper Darby, has admitted to a shocking two-pronged fraud scheme that swindled over $140,000 from both a religious organization and a political group. The deacon and state director stood in a position of trust, using his influence to loot funds for personal gain.

Jordan was charged with wire fraud after it was discovered he issued 82 fraudulent checks totaling approximately $57,384 to himself from Religious Organization #1’s bank accounts. He claimed these were for ‘expenses,’ though no such expenses were incurred. His abuse of trust led to significant losses for the organization.

Additionally, Jordan exploited Political Organization #1, where he was an elected leader, from 1996 until at least 2024. He controlled and transferred funds from the group’s accounts to himself, using them for personal expenses including airline tickets, furniture, and paying off credit cards. He even used $12,500 of the group’s money for a family member’s funeral, all without permission or benefit to the organization.

Jordan has now pleaded guilty to two counts of wire fraud and faces up to 20 years in prison on each count. The sentencing is set for November 19.

This case, which highlights the extent of corruption within public offices, serves as a stark reminder of the potential for abuse when trust is misplaced. The United States Attorney’s Office has been working tirelessly to uncover and prosecute such crimes, ensuring justice for those whose trust was betrayed.
