A brazen bank robbery in Van Buren, Arkansas, has ended in a guilty verdict, with the perpetrator facing a lengthy prison sentence. 43-year-old Roy Dean Lamproe was sentenced to 96 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for his role in the July 2, 2019, robbery of the Arvest Bank.

According to court records, Lamproe entered the bank at approximately 2:50 p.m. and approached the teller line, displaying a handgun and claiming to have a bomb. A teller placed a large amount of money into a small box, which Lamproe then fled the bank with. The investigation was launched after bank employees provided a physical description and surveillance footage of the suspect.

A subsequent search of Lamproe’s residence, authorized by a parole waiver and consent to search granted by a relative, revealed the proceeds of the bank robbery. Lamproe was arrested and taken into custody, bringing an end to a tense manhunt.

Lamproe was indicted by a federal grand jury in August 2019 and entered a guilty plea in October of the same year. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Van Buren Police Department, with Assistant United States Attorney Kyra Jenner prosecuting the case.

The case highlights the importance of swift action in the face of brazen crimes. ‘This sentence serves as a reminder that bank robberies will not be tolerated in our community,’ said Acting United States Attorney David Clay Fowlkes.

Lamproe’s sentence is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation. ‘We are grateful for the partnership between the FBI and the Van Buren Police Department in bringing this case to a successful conclusion,’ added Fowlkes.
