ALBANY, NEW YORK – In a swift move against illegal immigration, Cruz Juvenal Vasquez-Rojo, a 40-year-old citizen of Mexico, has been sentenced to time served—50 days in jail—for illegal re-entry into the United States.
The sentence was announced by United States Attorney Grant C. Jaquith and Thomas E. Feeley, Director of the Buffalo Field Office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO).
Vasquez-Rojo’s guilty plea revealed his previous removals from the U.S., first on October 29, 2010, and again on April 7, 2011. His latest encounter with ICE occurred on January 22, 2018, in Schenectady, New York.
After serving his sentence, Vasquez-Rojo was handed over to the custody of the Department of Homeland Security for removal proceedings, marking a definitive end to his unlawful stay in the U.S.
This case was meticulously investigated by ICE-ERO and aggressively prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward P. Grogan, ensuring justice for the violation of immigration laws.
The swift resolution serves as a stark reminder of the United States’ commitment to enforcing its immigration statutes and protecting its borders from illegal re-entry attempts.
