MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – Kelly Von Morck, 35, of Hartshorne, Oklahoma, has admitted to a dangerous cocktail of illegal activity, pleading guilty to federal charges related to possessing firearms, ammunition, and explosives while actively using controlled substances. The case, a grim reminder of the intersection between addiction and weaponry, unfolded in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
According to court documents, Von Morck pleaded guilty to two counts of Unlawful User of Controlled Substance in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition, and one count of User of a Controlled Substance in Possession of Explosive. The Superseding Indictment detailed a disturbing pattern of behavior. On October 20, 2024, authorities allege Von Morck, fully aware of his addiction, possessed a veritable arsenal: a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, a .22 revolver, a 16-gauge shotgun, a .38 caliber revolver, a .30-06 caliber rifle, and a staggering 559 rounds of assorted ammunition – all crossing state lines.
The indictment didn’t stop there. Further allegations revealed that on June 26, 2025, Von Morck again knowingly possessed a 9mm semi-automatic pistol and 82 rounds of ammunition, again transported via interstate commerce. But the danger escalated beyond firearms. On October 20, 2024 – the same date as the initial gun seizure – Von Morck allegedly possessed an explosive device, also shipped across state lines, while under the influence.
This wasn’t a solitary investigation. Law enforcement converged on the case, with the Hartshorne Police Department, Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office, Oklahoma Highway Patrol Bomb Squad, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) all contributing to the unraveling of Von Morck’s illicit stockpile. The investigation underscores the collaborative effort required to tackle such volatile combinations of crime.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Gerald L. Jackson accepted Von Morck’s guilty plea and has ordered a presentence investigation report to be prepared. The report will provide the U.S. District Court Judge with crucial information for sentencing, considering both the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other relevant statutory factors. The specifics of Von Morck’s sentence remain to be determined, but given the nature of the charges, a significant penalty is anticipated.
Von Morck will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service while awaiting sentencing. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan E. Soverly prosecuted the case, demonstrating the federal government’s commitment to holding accountable those who endanger public safety by combining substance abuse with access to deadly weapons and explosives. This case serves as a stark warning: the reckless combination of addiction and firepower will not be tolerated.
