WACO, Texas – Venezuelan national Jarrison Bladovino-Melano has been handed down a sentence of time served in federal court after pleading guilty to failure to notify of an address change and failure to carry his alien registration on his person. The sentence came following his arrest for possession of marijuana in Belton on July 13, which led to the discovery that he was an illegal alien.
Bladovino-Melano, also known as Jarrison Jovanniy Melano and Yabanni Merlano, had been paroled into the United States by U.S. Border Patrol in September 2022 for travel to New York. Instead, he was found living in Aurora, Colorado, a year later.
Transferred into Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody on July 17, Bladovino-Melano pleaded guilty on July 18 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Derek T. Gilliland. He remains in ICE custody for further processing.
The case was investigated by ICE, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Gloff prosecuting it. It is part of Operation Take Back America, a DOJ initiative targeting illegal immigration and criminal organizations.
U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons for the Western District of Texas announced the conviction, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to repel illegal immigration and protect communities from violent crime. The operation includes resources from various task forces, including Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
With this sentence, Bladovino-Melano faces a new chapter in his life under the watch of federal authorities committed to restoring order and security.
