Clifford Perkins Jr., Maintaining Drug Involved Premises, Oklahoma 2013

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – Clifford Perkins Jr., 43, of Vian, Oklahoma, has confessed to turning his home into a full-blown methamphetamine operation. Perkins pled guilty to Maintaining Drug Involved Premises, a federal charge under Title 21, United States Code, Section 856, in front of Magistrate Judge Kimberly E. West.

The bust, a culmination of a lengthy investigation, was spearheaded by the Sallisaw Police Department, the District 27 District Attorney’s Drug Task Force, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration. Authorities began building their case against Perkins back in August of 2013, alleging a continuous operation from approximately August 1, 2012, up to the present.

According to the indictment, Perkins knowingly and intentionally allowed his property at 307 Dennis St., Vian, Oklahoma, to be used as a hub for the distribution, manufacture, *and* use of methamphetamine – a Schedule II Controlled Substance. This wasn’t just a crash pad; it was a fully operational meth lab and distribution point, according to federal prosecutors.

Perkins now awaits sentencing, remaining in the custody of the United States Marshal Service. A presentence report is being compiled, which will detail the extent of his involvement and any potential mitigating factors. Don’t expect a light sentence. The statutory maximum for Maintaining Drug Involved Premises is a hefty 20 years behind bars, alongside a potential fine of up to $500,000.00.

Assistant United States Attorney Kyle Waters is prosecuting the case, and will be seeking the maximum penalty. This conviction is another win for law enforcement battling the ongoing methamphetamine epidemic plaguing Oklahoma and the nation. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and report on the sentencing when it is scheduled.

This isn’t just about one man and one house. It’s about the poison being pumped into our communities, and the damage it wreaks on families and individuals. Perkins’ actions fueled addiction and crime, and justice, however delayed, is finally being served. The Eastern District of Oklahoma remains a hotbed for illegal drug activity, and authorities are committed to dismantling these operations, one house at a time.
