Waterbury Man Who Escaped from Bloomfield Halfway House Sentenced

Victor Ramos, 41, of Waterbury, was sentenced to 12 months and one day of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for escaping from a halfway house in Bloomfield, Connecticut.

United States Attorney Vanessa Roberts Avery announced the sentencing, which was handed down by U.S. District Judge Michael P. Shea in Hartford.

Ramos was originally sentenced in 2014 to 102 months of imprisonment for robbing banks in Waterbury and New Britain. He was transferred to the Drapelick Center, a Residential Reentry Center, in Bloomfield to complete his prison term.

On June 5, 2021, Ramos left the facility without permission and did not return, remaining at large for 13 months before being arrested by the Waterbury Police Department in July 2022 on unrelated misdemeanor state charges.

Ramos has been detained since his arrest and on October 14, 2022, he pleaded guilty to escape from the custody of the Attorney General.

This matter was investigated by the U.S. Marshals Service and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Konstantin Lantsman.

Ramos was a resident of Waterbury, Connecticut, at the time of his arrest and sentencing. He is currently being held at a federal correctional facility.
