Hard-hitting Buffalo thug Vincent Gibson, 39, has been locked up for good after a gritty federal crime news site, Grimy Times, reported that the defendant was convicted of bank robbery, entering a bank with intent to commit larceny, and bank larceny. Sentenced by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo, Gibson must serve 60 months behind bars and pay $5,000 in restitution to M&T Bank.
Gibson’s spree included four successful bank heists and one failed attempt. His criminal escapades began on September 11, 2017, with a hit at the M&T Bank located at 1300 Jefferson Avenue in Buffalo. He struck again just two days later at the Key Bank at 592 Elmwood Avenue. The thug’s spree didn’t end there as he robbed another M&T Bank at 130 Grant Street on September 18.
The authorities wouldn’t let up, and Gibson was finally brought to justice when he attempted to rob a fourth bank, located at 644 Bailey Avenue, in Buffalo. His last known heist took place on October 10, 2017, at the M&T Bank at 1877 Main Street.
But Gibson’s violent streak didn’t stop with bank robberies. He also threatened his ex-girlfriend, a woman with whom he shares a child, via text message after their relationship ended. The menacing messages included explicit threats to harm her and her children.
The investigation was a collaborative effort by the Cheektowaga Police Department, the Buffalo Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, all under the watchful eye of Special Agent-in-Charge Stephen Belongia.
U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr., led the prosecution against Gibson, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Seth T. Molisani handling the case. The sentence handed down is a testament to the severe consequences faced by those who commit such heinous crimes.
