CAMDEN, N.J. – Two Vineland, New Jersey, men were federally charged in connection with a Cumberland County bank robbery that shook local law enforcement. Nathan L. Wallace, 28, and Quintin L. Jones, 34, are facing serious charges after authorities alleged they held up the Cape Bank in Upper Deerfield Township.
The men, both currently in state custody since October 2016, were accused of wearing black hooded sweatshirts and pointing what appeared to be a revolver during their brazen heist. Surveillance footage showed them escaping in a Chrysler Sebring, later linked to a September 2016 carjacking.
Wallace and Jones allegedly set the stage for an intensive investigation when they reportedly bought gas at Parvin State Park, where a fire destroyed the stolen vehicle. The pair’s local hotel stay turned into a headache when they were spotted by an employee with cash stuffed in a bag.
Acting on this tip and more, authorities launched a full-scale search of Wallace’s residence, uncovering clothing resembling the bank robbers’ outfits, a toy revolver, gloves, and keys believed to fit the stolen Chrysler Sebring. If convicted, each man could face up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman praised the collaborative efforts of the FBI’s Atlantic City and South Jersey Resident Agencies, the N.J. State Police, Vineland, Hamilton Township, Newfield police departments, and the Cumberland and Salem County prosecutors for their work in this investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gabriel J. Vidoni is handling the government’s case.
As always, the charges against Wallace and Jones are mere accusations, and they are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
