A Waltham man with a 20-year history of downloading and possessing child pornography has pleaded guilty to a federal charge, Grimy Times has learned.
BOSTON – Robert Daigle, 47, pleaded guilty today in federal court in Boston to receiving child sexual abuse material (CSAM), a charge that carries a minimum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum of 20 years. U.S. District Court Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton scheduled sentencing for Sept. 11, 2024.
According to court records, Daigle was indicted by a federal grand jury in February 2022, and on Jan. 11, 2022, authorities seized 10 electronic devices from his Waltham residence. The majority of those devices were located in Daigle’s bedroom.
A forensic examination of one device revealed approximately 1,100 child pornography images and 900 child pornography videos. A second device contained approximately 380 child pornography images. Daigle admitted to downloading and possessing the images and videos for approximately 20 years.
The charge of receipt of child pornography provides for a sentence of at least five years and up to 20 years in prison, at least five years and up to a lifetime of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.
Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy; Jodi Cohen, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Division; and Waltham Police Chief Kevin O’Connell made the announcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Sullivan Jacobus of the Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.
This case is brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as identify and rescue victims.
