SCRANTON – A Weatherly native has been hit with severe federal charges after attempting to pull off a fraudulent gun purchase. David Feliciano-Seize, 60, was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 18, 2024, for making false statements during the attempted purchase of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Feliciano-Seize, who previously served a decade behind bars for an armed robbery conviction, is accused of attempting to buy an assault rifle while falsely claiming he had no convictions. The indictment also highlights his illegal possession of a firearm in 2023.
The investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), with Assistant United States Attorney Sarah R. Lloyd handling the prosecution.
Under federal law, Feliciano-Seize faces up to 10 years in prison for the false statement charge and an additional 15 years for unlawful possession. Sentencing will be determined by the Judge based on federal sentencing statutes and guidelines.
Indictments are merely accusations, and Feliciano-Seize is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the harsh penalties for firearms violations and fraudulent activities involving weapons purchases.
