Wenona Oropeza, Meth Conspiracy, Iowa 2026

Omaha, Nebraska woman Wenona Oropeza, 48, has been sentenced to over ten years in federal prison for her role in an Iowa meth conspiracy.

Oropeza pleaded guilty on October 22, 2025, to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, a crime that carried significant penalties.

According to evidence presented during the plea and sentencing hearings, Oropeza would often have others drive her from Omaha to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with several ounces of methamphetamine to distribute in the city, where she could double and triple her profits selling the illicit substance.

On March 2, 2025, a vehicle Oropeza was a passenger in was stopped for traffic violations near Sioux City, and law enforcement seized over 50 grams of pure methamphetamine from the vehicle.

Oropeza admitted that the methamphetamine was intended for sale in Sioux Falls, and the evidence presented during the sentencing hearing supported this claim.

United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand sentenced Oropeza to 130 months’ imprisonment, followed by a 5-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.

Oropeza is currently being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until she can be transported to a federal prison to begin serving her sentence.
