COLUMBUS, Ohio – A shocking wave of methamphetamine has hit the streets of Ohio, and authorities have taken a major step to put a stop to it. Eight defendants, including Wesley Durell Johnson, 38, of Las Vegas, Nevada, have been charged in a multi-state methamphetamine conspiracy.
According to the indictment, the defendants shipped multiple pounds of methamphetamine to Columbus from California and Las Vegas via the United States Postal Service. This brazen operation has resulted in the seizure of at least 50 kilograms, or approximately 110 pounds, of methamphetamine, valued at a staggering $1.5 million.
The indictment alleges that the defendants conspired to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, a crime punishable by at least 10 years and up to life in prison. The indictment was returned on April 12, and the case was unsealed today.
Law enforcement officials have also seized three firearms, fentanyl, and marijuana. The sheer scope of this operation is a stark reminder of the dangers of methamphetamine and the importance of law enforcement’s efforts to keep our communities safe.
The defendants charged include Wesley Durell Johnson, 38, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Deysuan Shalee Wells, 39, of Columbus, Ohio; Tiauna Christine Castro, 32, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Mohamed Ahmed Hussein, 34, of Moreno Valley, California; Ronnie Bert White, 63, of Columbus, Ohio; Autumn K. Jordan, 40, of Columbus, Ohio; Cierra Sade Stratton, 33, of Columbus, Ohio; and Terrell D. Harris, 59, of Columbus, Ohio.
The charges against the defendants come as a result of a collaborative effort between the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Southern District of Ohio. Assistant United States Attorney Timothy D. Prichard is representing the United States in this case.
An indictment merely contains allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. The outcome of this case will be closely watched as authorities work to dismantle this extensive methamphetamine operation.
The impact of this operation is already being felt, with law enforcement officials working tirelessly to keep our communities safe from the dangers of methamphetamine. As this case unfolds, we will continue to provide updates and coverage.
