West Pleads Guilty to Murder in Indian Country

A shocking crime has shaken the community in Okmulgee County, Oklahoma. Glen Thomas West, a 35-year-old resident, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Indian Country.

According to court documents, West willfully, deliberately, maliciously, and with premeditation and malice aforethought, killed Edwin Dominic Reid, an Indian, with a firearm on July 10, 2019, within the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Indian Country.

The investigation into the murder was carried out by the Henryetta Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney David Youll represented the United States in the case.

The Honorable Steven P. Shreder, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, accepted the plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.

The charges against West carry a sentence of death or imprisonment for life, a fine of up to $250,000.00, or both.

West’s guilty plea marks a significant development in the case, which has been ongoing since 2019. The community is still reeling from the tragic event, and many are left wondering how such a senseless act of violence could occur.
