Wide Open Arms, Inc. Burglary, Indiana 2014

A brazen burglary at Wide Open Arms, Inc., a federal firearms licensee in Indianapolis, Indiana, has left authorities scrambling for answers. On Sunday, September 28, 2014, a person or persons drove a vehicle into the storefront of Wide Open Arms, located at 3722 East Raymond St., Indianapolis, Ind.

According to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), numerous handguns were reported stolen from the scene. The ATF, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, and the Indiana State Police are investigating.

The ATF is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the theft. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) – the trade association for the firearms industry – has pledged to match the ATF reward, bringing the total possible reward to $10,000.

This reward is part of a larger national cooperative initiative between the NSSF and ATF in which NSSF matches ATF rewards in cases involving the theft of firearms from federally licensed retailers. The ATF works closely with the members of the firearms industry to curb the criminal acquisition and misuse of firearms.
