BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – A Texas man has been sentenced for his role in damaging a federal building in West Virginia. Will Adrian Samuels, 48, of Jefferson, Texas, was sentenced to time served and ordered to pay $1,990.84 in restitution for destruction of government property.
According to court documents and statements made in court, on November 19, 2023, Samuels repeatedly threw objects at two glass exterior doors located at the front of the Elizabeth Kee Federal Building in Bluefield, West Virginia, causing more than $1,000 in damage.
The destruction of government property is a serious offense and a threat to the safety of those who work and visit the building. It is fortunate that no one was hurt during the incident.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia made the announcement, commending the investigative work of the United States Marshals Service (USMS) and the assistance provided by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and the Wytheville, Virginia, Police Department.
Samuels was sentenced by Senior United States District Judge David A. Faber. Assistant United States Attorney D. Keith Randolph prosecuted the case.
