Willard Lester “Les” Willard, Murder-For-Hire, South Carolina 2024

Columbia, South Carolina – A federal grand jury returned a nine-count Indictment charging Florence resident Willard Lester “Les” Willard, age 51, with conspiracy, smuggling, and violations of the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, unrelated to his murder-for-hire charge.

However, in a separate case, Willard Lester “Les” Willard, age 51, a Florence resident, has been sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison for his role in a conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire in the shooting of a correctional officer. The incident occurred in South Carolina.

The United States Attorney Bill Nettles announced the sentencing on February 27, 2024.

The case was investigated by Special Agents with the Food and Drug Administration’s Office of Criminal Investigation, working with Homeland Security Investigations and Inspectors with the United States Postal Inspection Service. Assistant United States Attorney Eric Klumb is prosecuting the case.

Willard Lester “Les” Willard, age 51, a Florence resident, was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire in the shooting of a correctional officer.

The United States Attorney stated that the charges alleged in the Indictment are merely accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
