Armed Bank Robber Pleads Guilty
AUGUSTA, GA – In a shocking turn of events, William Arnold Debow, a 53-year-old licensed firearms dealer from Savannah, Georgia, has pleaded guilty to armed bank robbery charges. Debow, who owned and operated The Ponderosa Trading Company, was accused of knowingly transferring firearms to convicted felons and illegally transferring handguns to out-of-state residents.
The indictment, which was returned by a federal grand jury in Savannah, Georgia, charges Debow with 28 counts of knowingly transferring a firearm to a convicted felon and 10 counts of illegally transferring a handgun to out-of-state residents. If convicted, Debow faces a maximum prison sentence of 10 years and a fine of up to $250,000 for each count of knowingly transferring a firearm to a felon.
In addition to the charges related to firearm transfers, Debow also faces up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for each count of illegally transferring a handgun to an out-of-state resident. United States Attorney Edward Tarver emphasized that the indictment is only an accusation and is not evidence of guilt, and that the defendant is entitled to a fair trial.
