Batesland Man Sentenced for Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person

On February 29, 2016, a Batesland, South Dakota, man was sentenced for Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.

William Morrisette, age 26, was found guilty of possessing a Ruger 9mm handgun on August 23, 2015, near Pine Ridge, after having been previously convicted of a felony assault on a federal officer.

Morrisette was indicted for the charge on October 20, 2015, and pled guilty on November 13, 2015.
