A St. Louis man has been indicted on child pornography charges, the latest in a string of high-profile cases in the region.
William T. Hopmeier, 47, of St. Louis, was indicted on February 1, 2018, on charges of producing child pornography. The indictment alleges that Hopmeier video recorded minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct between July 2017 and January 31, 2018.
According to the indictment, Hopmeier faces a maximum penalty of not more than 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Additionally, he may be subject to a supervised release of not less than 5 years upon his release from prison.
The investigation into Hopmeier’s activities was a collaborative effort between the St. Louis County Police Department, Des Peres Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case is ongoing, and Hopmeier has not yet entered a plea.
