TYLER ROBERT CURTIS, Child Pornography, Alabama 2025
A 34-year-old man from Pell City, Alabama, has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for distributing and possessing child pornography.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Tyler Robert Curtis was sentenced to 162 months in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release.
Curtis was also ordered to pay a $3,000 special assessment under the Amy, Vicky, and Andy Act.
The investigation began in September 2024 when the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The tip came from Kik, a social media provider, which reported that Curtis had uploaded images of child pornography to his account.
Agents searched Curtis’s bedroom and seized his cell phone, which contained images of child pornography.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.

Homeland Security Investigations investigated the case along with the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation and the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel S. McBrayer prosecuted the case.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Curtis’s sentence is a reminder that the federal government takes child pornography and exploitation very seriously.

The Amy, Vicky, and Andy Child Pornography Victim Assistance Act of 2018 created new penalties and made several changes to existing child pornography laws.
The amounts received as AVAA special assessments are deposited in the Child Pornography Victims Reserve to pay defined monetary assistance to victims.
