Stockholm Man Sentenced to 22 Years in Prison for Child Pornography
Bangor, Maine – In a harsh verdict, Benjamin A. Rossignol, 22, of Stockholm, Maine, was sentenced to 22 years in prison, followed by 20 years of supervised release for possessing and distributing child pornography.
Rossignol pleaded guilty to the charges on May 8, 2014, after a thorough investigation revealed his involvement in the heinous crime. The investigation, conducted jointly by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit, the Bangor Police Department, and the Queensland Police Service, uncovered a disturbing pattern of behavior.
Court records show that Rossignol created images of child pornography using a minor child in October 2013. He then sent three of those images to a covert internet investigator with the Queensland Police Service. A subsequent search warrant at his residence in Stockholm revealed a stash of child pornography on his cell phone and computer.
The forensic examination of Rossignol’s devices revealed images identical to the ones sent to the QPS investigator, as well as other child pornography. This shocking evidence sealed his fate, and he will now face the consequences of his actions.
U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II announced the sentence, stating that Rossignol’s actions were a clear violation of the law and a threat to the well-being of our community. Chief Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr. agreed, imposing the maximum sentence allowed under the law.
Rossignol’s guilty plea on May 8, 2014, marked a turning point in the case. Contact U.S. Assistant Attorney F. Todd Lowell at (207) 945-0373 for more information.
The investigation serves as a stark reminder of the importance of protecting our children from predators like Rossignol. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
