Browning Man Admits Aggravated Sexual Abuse

A Browning man has admitted to sexually abusing two children on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation, according to court documents.

Jonathan Cadotte, 60, pleaded guilty to a superseding information charging him with aggravated sexual abuse and aggravated sexual abuse of a child. The maximum penalty for these crimes is life in prison, a $250,000 fine, and at least five years of supervised release.

The government alleged that Cadotte engaged in a sexual act by force against a victim, identified as Jane Doe 1, from September 2019 to September 2020 in the Browning area. He also allegedly engaged in a sexual act with Jane Doe 2, who had not yet reached 12 years of age, from 1993 to about 1998 in the same area.

The case was investigated by the FBI, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and Blackfeet Law Enforcement Services. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kalah A. Paisley is prosecuting the case.

Cadotte was detained pending further proceedings. Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris presided over the hearing and set sentencing for December 8.
