ROCK ISLAND, IL – William Tyler Burrows, 33, of Moline, Illinois, will spend the next decade behind bars after being sentenced today for a sickening crime. U.S. District Judge Sara Darrow handed down a 121-month prison sentence to Burrows for receiving child pornography, a sentence that also includes a lifetime of supervised release following his incarceration.
The case, prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Meredith DeCarlo, detailed how Burrows knowingly obtained and possessed three videos depicting the sexual abuse of children. The illicit material was received over the internet between July 11 and August 18, 2015. Burrows pleaded guilty to the charges on May 31, 2017, admitting to his depraved actions.
This wasn’t some abstract, faceless crime. These videos represent the real-life exploitation and suffering of vulnerable children. The Secret Service, alongside the Moline Police Department, worked tirelessly to track down Burrows and bring him to justice. Burrows’ lifetime of supervised release is intended to ensure continued monitoring and prevent any future offenses.
