William Valencia Pleads Guilty to Escape from Custody in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – In a shocking turn of events, William Valencia, a 33-year-old man from Paguete, New Mexico, has pleaded guilty to escape from custody. The incident occurred on July 27, 2023, when Valencia left the Dismas Charities Diersen Residential Reentry Center in Albuquerque without permission.

Valencia was serving the last six months of his custodial sentence for assault of an intimate partner by strangling and suffocating. He was sentenced to 75 months in prison in January 2020, followed by three years of supervised release. However, Valencia’s escape from custody has now put his freedom at risk.

According to sources, Valencia was arrested by the Albuquerque Police Department on October 6, 2023, for possession of a controlled substance. He was subsequently taken into federal custody on October 10, 2023.
