A federal jury has found a 52-year-old Nampa man guilty of attempting to produce child sexual abuse material after a three-day trial.
William Walls was convicted of three counts of attempted sexual exploitation of a child, which carries a minimum of 15 years and up to life in federal prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and at least five years and up to lifetime of supervised release.
According to testimony and evidence presented at trial, Walls used his cellphone to surreptitiously record three female children in the bathroom of his apartment while he was babysitting them.
The video captured one of the children showering and the other two children changing their clothes.
Walls will be required to register as a sex offender as a result of the conviction.
Sentencing is set for July 31, 2025, before Senior U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill at the federal courthouse in Boise.
Acting U.S. Attorney Justin Whatcott commended the Nampa Police Department for a thorough and professional investigation, which led to the charges.
Assistant United States Attorneys Kassandra McGrady and Erin Blackadar prosecuted the case.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the federal government.
