Tyriq Williams, Navy Yard Metro Station Murder, Washington 2025

WASHINGTON – In a chilling turn of events at the Navy Yard Metro Station, Tyriq Williams, 34, from the District of Columbia, has been sentenced to 192 months in prison for the heinous murder of Terry Clark. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro announced the sentence.

Williams, who pleaded guilty on April 23, 2025, to second-degree murder while armed, was sentenced under a plea agreement. Following his release from prison, Williams will be subjected to a five-year term of supervised release.

The tragic incident unfolded on January 7, 2023, when Williams and an unknown woman encountered Mr. Clark on the escalator at the Navy Yard Metro Station. It was a violent encounter that ended with one shot to the head that took Clark’s life. Unfazed by his crime, Williams returned to the station, boarded a train, and made his way to Congress Heights Metro Station, where he hijacked a bus to his workplace. He then called a friend for a ride home.

But law enforcement was on the case. Williams was caught on surveillance footage from both the metro station and the bus. A thorough investigation led to his arrest, and a search warrant of his home revealed distinctive clothing worn during the shooting. Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) stood alongside U.S. Attorney Pirro during the announcement.

U.S. Attorney Pirro and Chief Smith commended the hard work of the Metropolitan Police Department’s investigators, Assistant U.S. Attorneys Molly K. Smith and Jamie Carter, who prosecuted the case, and former Assistant U.S. Attorney John Interrante, who played a pivotal role in the investigation.

This sentence serves as a stark reminder of the violence that can strike even in the most unexpected places, and it underscores the unwavering commitment of law enforcement to bring justice for the innocent lives taken by senseless acts of violence.
