BOSTON – In a grim display of justice for the streets of Worcester, 35-year-old Mindy Doherty faced the music today as she was sentenced to four years in prison and an additional four years of supervised release. The sentence, handed down by U.S. District Judge Timothy S. Hillman, capped off a federal prosecution that exposed Doherty’s deep involvement in two methamphetamine conspiracies.
Doherty pleaded guilty in February 2019 to two counts of methamphetamine conspiracy, a move that brought her into the crosshairs of law enforcement. The crimes began in 2016 when she accepted packages of the drug at her residence and funneled funds to California-based co-conspirators. Her activities didn’t stop there; Doherty also shipped meth to Florida via FedEx and the U.S. Postal Service, selling to Massachusetts locals and wiring proceeds back.
But her involvement didn’t end with Zukowski. Doherty was part of a separate conspiracy where she accepted packages for Adam Germano, another co-conspirator. She even traveled to Texas with Germano, carrying thousands in cash, to acquire more meth. The duo continued their drug operations until Germano’s arrest in 2017. Despite this, Doherty persisted, distributing meth throughout Worcester.
Germano and Zukowski have also faced their own sentences for meth-related charges, with Zukowski receiving a 28-month term and Germano being sentenced to 15 years. United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling; Brian D. Boyle of the DEA; and Joseph W. Cronin of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service were at the forefront of the announcement today, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Abely leading the prosecution.
This sentencing is a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Worcester and the relentless efforts of law enforcement to bring those involved to justice. Doherty’s case serves as a cautionary tale for others looking to profit from the illegal drug trade.
