Wyatt Swan, Murder, Washington DC 2024
A chilling tale of domestic violence and brutality unfolded in Northeast Washington, where a husband took the life of his wife in a parking lot. Wyatt Swan, 48, of Washington, D.C., has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for the murder of Teresa Francisco, 52.
The heinous crime occurred on October 1, 2024, at approximately 1:00 p.m. in the 900 block of Eastern Avenue, Northeast. According to the government’s evidence, Swan shot and killed his wife in their shared apartment, then pursued her as she fled in a nearby work van, firing numerous shots into the vehicle, ultimately killing her.
Swan’s actions were nothing short of cowardly, as he fled the scene, evading police. It was only with the assistance of the Prince George’s County Police Department that he was apprehended on October 2, 2024.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro and Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department commended the bravery and dedication of the investigators who worked tirelessly to bring Swan to justice. The U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Metropolitan Police Department expressed their gratitude for the assistance provided by the Prince George’s County Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregory Evans, who prosecuted the case, also received praise for his exceptional work. Swan pleaded guilty on January 24, 2025, to second-degree murder while armed. As part of his sentence, he will serve five years of supervised release after completing his prison term.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their actions. As the city continues to grapple with the complex issues surrounding violence, this sentence serves as a measure of justice for Teresa Francisco and her loved ones.
With this conviction, the people of Washington D.C. can take comfort in knowing that those who commit such heinous crimes will be held accountable for their actions. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
