Yin Gong Corp., a retailer in New York’s Chinatown, has been ordered to comply with federal meat inspection laws after repeated violations were uncovered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
According to a complaint filed earlier this week in Manhattan federal court, Yin Gong Corp. repeatedly sold hundreds of pounds of non-federally inspected pork products to retailers located in New York and other states.
The complaint alleges that Yin Gong Corp. sold approximately 274 pounds of non-federally inspected pork dumplings and pork buns to a grocery store located in Rochester, New York, in November 2019. The grocery store then sold approximately 167 pounds of those pork products to its customers.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York and the FSIS announced the entry of a consent decree against Yin Gong Corp. and its owner, Yong Xing Wang, for violations of the Federal Meat Inspection Act.
Under the consent decree, Yin Gong Corp. is enjoined from selling or transporting any uninspected or misbranded meat products required to be inspected and passed by the USDA, or engaging in any other conduct that would violate the Federal Meat Inspection Act.
The consent decree also imposes significant sanctions, including civil monetary penalties, termination of exempt status, contempt sanctions, and other relief, if Yin Gong Corp. fails to comply with the law.
Yin Gong Corp. has admitted, acknowledged, and accepted responsibility for the following: repeatedly selling non-federally inspected meat and meat food products to retailers for resale, misbranding meat and meat food products, and failing to maintain records that fully and correctly disclosed their business transactions.
