Shocking allegations have emerged from Youngstown, Ohio, as 33-year-old Frederick Watt stands accused of making death threats against the President and First Lady. According to federal documents, on March 24, 2013, Watt is alleged to have called Trumbull County 911 operators with chilling intent.
Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, confirmed that a two-count indictment has been returned by a federal grand jury against Watt. The case is set to be prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nancy Kelley after an investigation led by the United States Secret Service.
In the event of conviction, Watt’s sentence will be determined by the Court based on unique factors specific to his criminal history and role in the offenses. However, it is noted that the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum, which, in most cases, will result in a sentence substantially less than the maximum allowed by law.
This case underscores the gravity of such threats, with an emphasis on the need for justice and due process. As with any indictment, it serves only as a charge and is not proof of guilt. The defendant, Frederick Watt, is entitled to a fair trial where the government must prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
