Yuridia Rosas-Luna, Transporting Undocumented Aliens, Florida 2024

Jacksonville, Florida – In a disturbing case of human trafficking, Yuridia Rosas-Luna, a 35-year-old Mexican national, has pleaded guilty to transporting undocumented aliens for financial gain.

Rosas-Luna faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison, with a sentencing date yet to be scheduled. According to court documents, Rosas-Luna was paid $1,500 to transport one of the aliens from Kingsland, Georgia to Riverview, Florida.

The incident unfolded on May 21, 2024, when a Nassau County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped Rosas-Luna’s vehicle for reckless driving. Deputies discovered three passengers, all of whom were unable to provide identification. Upon searching the vehicle, they found Mexican identification cards on the passengers.

Rosas-Luna initially claimed she was taking one of the passengers to see ‘family,’ only to later change her story, stating she picked up her ‘friend’ in Nassau County to take him to the hospital in Tampa. However, Rosas-Luna ultimately revealed that she knew the passengers were from Mexico.

Agents from U.S. Customs and Border Protection determined that the three passengers were indeed illegally present in the United States and were citizens of Mexico. One of the passengers had previously been removed to Mexico on May 13, 2024, just eight days prior to the stop.

This case was investigated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office. Prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorneys Elisibeth Adams and Ashley Washington.

Rosas-Luna’s guilty plea serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat of human trafficking in our communities. As we continue to investigate and prosecute these crimes, it is essential that we remain vigilant and support those affected by these heinous acts.
