A brutal international dog fighting and cocaine trafficking ring that terrorized central Indiana has been brought to justice. 13 defendants have been sentenced for their roles in the ring, which was also known for its use of firearms.
The defendants, who were caught after a multi-agency investigation, were involved in a dog fighting venture that involved the exhibition of animals in animal fighting and the possession of firearms by convicted felons. The ring also trafficked large quantities of cocaine.
According to the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Indiana, the ring was responsible for the abuse and neglect of over 100 dogs, which have since been rescued.
The sentences handed down range from 8 months to 5 years 6 months in prison, with three defendants receiving time served. The defendants were also ordered to serve periods of supervised release, ranging from 2 to 4 years.
