ST. LOUIS – Loyse Dozier, 20, a St. Louis man already charged with one non-fatal carjacking in August, now faces new charges following allegations of a fatal carjacking in July.
The superseding indictment claims Dozier discharged a firearm during the carjacking of a 2014 Mercedes sedan on July 10, 2022, at a market in Riverview, St. Louis County.
Court documents reveal the incident occurred at a market on the 300 block of Chambers Road. Dozier now faces multiple charges, including carjacking resulting in death, brandishing and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, resulting in death, attempted carjacking resulting in serious bodily injury, possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl, possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and possession of a firearm as a previously convicted felon.
In another incident on August 1, Dozier allegedly attempted to take a 2019 Kia Optima at gunpoint from a woman in the parking lot of the Walgreens at 1400 North Grand Boulevard. The gunman shot her multiple times after obtaining the keys and fled when an off-duty officer intervened.
Shell casings recovered at the scene matched those found at the market, according to the complaint. Dozier’s cell phone was discovered in the Kia, and upon his arrest, he was found with a gun. The indictments and complaint indicate that Dozier is a previously convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms.
Charges set forth in an indictment are merely accusations and do not constitute proof of guilt. Every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The investigation into these crimes was conducted by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the St. Louis County Police Department, and the FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Martin is prosecuting the case.
