Deontai Williams, a 33-year-old Indianapolis resident, was attending a pretrial hearing in Marion County on January 17, 2025, when law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at his residence. What they found was a stash of deadly drugs and firearms, including 22.4 grams of methamphetamine, 45.5 grams of cocaine, 7.3 grams of cocaine base, and 50.7 grams of fentanyl. Williams’ history of violent crime and drug dealing had finally caught up with him.
Williams’ conduct in this case was just the latest in a long history of drug dealing and violent behavior. He had previously been convicted of battery resulting in bodily injury to a person under 14, unlawful residential entry, and dealing in methamphetamine. In one disturbing incident, he assaulted a six-year-old child with an extension cord and threw him across a room.
On February 2026, a federal jury found Williams guilty of trafficking in fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine, as well as illegally possessing eight firearms as a convicted felon. He was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release.
The sentence marks a significant blow to the illicit drug trade in Indianapolis, where fentanyl and other deadly substances have taken a devastating toll on communities.
