A 33-year-old Michigan man was sentenced to 22.5 years in prison for running a fentanyl trafficking operation in Michigan City, Indiana. Devin Melvin, the mastermind behind the operation, orchestrated the distribution of tens of thousands of fentanyl pills over 10 months in 2023 and 2024.
Melvin’s crew, which included Clinton Rouse, Tyler Wood, Justin Hervey, and Raquan Perry, preyed on the city’s vulnerable residents, forcing them to buy the deadly pills. Law enforcement seized over 10,000 of these pills during the investigation.
Last year, the other members of the operation pleaded guilty and were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 125 to 188 months. Melvin’s accomplices included Clinton Rouse, who was sentenced to 188 months, and Tyler Wood, who received 160 months.
U.S. Attorney Adam L. Mildred announced the sentencing, saying it was a significant blow to the fentanyl trafficking operation. Melvin’s sentence serves as a warning to those who would profit from the suffering of others.
