A Clarksville, Tennessee clinic is on the hook for $300,000 after a massive billing scam was uncovered. Pitts Therapies, LLC, doing business as Cornerstone Pediatric Therapies, improperly billed TRICARE for thousands of dollars in pediatric therapy sessions.
The scam, which spanned from 2020 to October 2022, involved the clinic billing TRICARE for two units of a billing code per day, per beneficiary, when only one unit was allowed.
The scheme was uncovered by US authorities, who alleged that Cornerstone also billed TRICARE for two different billing codes for certain services, when only one such code was payable.
“Our office will always seek to protect taxpayer dollars from false claims,” said US Attorney Braden H. Boucek. “This resolution means that the taxpayers will get their money back and sends a message that these kinds of false claims will not be tolerated in our community.”
Cornerstone operates a clinic that provides pediatric therapy to children who are autistic, non-verbal, or speech-delayed.
