GRIMY NEWS ALERT: A North Kansas City, Mo., man is facing serious federal charges after allegedly aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft. Aaron Randall Class, 53, was indicted by a federal grand jury on Aug. 12, 2025, for the disturbing act.
According to the Department of Justice USAO, the incident occurred on Nov. 23, 2024. The indictment unsealed following Class’s arrest alleges that he deliberately aimed a laser pointer beam at an aircraft within U.S. jurisdiction.
This is no mere prank; under federal statutes, Class could be sentenced to up to five years in federal prison for this dangerous offense. As with all charges, the actual sentence will depend on the court’s decision based on advisory guidelines and other factors.
The case against Class is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Trey Alford and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Branon Chlarson. The investigation was conducted by the North Kansas City, Missouri Police Department.
