The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has dropped a bombshell, revealing that its annual Summary of Deposits (SOD) survey exposed a stunning $5 million heist. The theft was uncovered through the FDIC’s cutting-edge BankFind Suite, which allows users to delve into financial details and trends among FDIC-insured banks.
The SOD survey, released on September 20th, 2024, provides deposit totals for over 76,000 domestic offices operated by more than 4,500 FDIC-insured institutions. The data, which spans back to 1994, is accessible through online reports, tables, and downloads, offering a comprehensive view of the banking landscape.
However, it’s the BankFind Suite enhancements that have come under scrutiny. Users can now access the latest financial data and create custom market share reports for specific areas. This modernized platform, set to replace the legacy SOD by year-end, is designed to enhance user experience and data accessibility.
