New Orleans – The grimy details of a federal sex crime case have been unmasked. Sixty-six-year-old Peter Nealon, hailing from Schenectady, New York, has pleaded guilty to traveling across state lines with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a 15-year-old female.
According to court documents, Nealon met his young victim on Instagram, initiating overtly sexual conversations and transmitting explicit images. He later expressed his desire to visit her in Louisiana for sex acts, even detailing them extensively. The predator also targeted the girl’s friend, a 14-year-old, expressing intentions to engage in sexual contact with both.
Nealon booked his flight from Albany to New Orleans and arrived on March 27, 2024, with the sole intent of pursuing his sinister plans. He now faces a maximum sentence of thirty years in prison, alongside substantial fines and lifetime supervised release.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation. U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans hailed the work of the FBI in this investigation, which was handled by Assistant United States Attorneys Briana Williams and Jordan Ginsberg from the Public Integrity Unit.
Sentencing is scheduled for October 8, 2024, before Judge Darrel James Papillion.
