PHOENIX, Arizona – In a shocking turn of events, Antonio Yazzie, 25, of Lukachukai, Arizona, and a member of the Navajo Nation, was sentenced to 46 months in prison followed by a term of 3 years of supervised release for the robbery of the Totsoh Trading Post on the Navajo Nation Indian Reservation.
According to the investigation, on January 18, 2017, Yazzie entered the Totsoh Trading Post and brandished a box cutter, threatening a store employee and demanding money from the cash register. The victim, also a member of the Navajo Nation, complied with Yazzie’s demands.
The investigation into this case was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Navajo Nation Police and Criminal Investigations. The prosecution was handled by Tracy Van Buskirk, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
Yazzie had previously pleaded guilty to robbery. His sentencing took place this week, with U.S. District Judge Stephen M. McNamee handing down the 46-month prison term.

Yazzie’s actions not only put the store employee at risk but also compromised the safety of the entire community. His sentence serves as a reminder of the severity of robbery and the importance of upholding the law.
