Illegally Reentering the US Lands Jamaican Man Behind Bars
A 44-year-old Jamaican national, Glenmore Almando Carey, has been charged with illegally reentering the United States after being deported in 2005. According to court documents, Carey was found living in Pittsburgh by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in November 2015.
The indictment, brought by the U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton, alleges that Carey, a citizen of Jamaica, knowingly and unlawfully reentered the United States, a crime punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Carey was previously removed from the country by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on May 10, 2005. His reentry into the United States in 2015 was discovered by agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations.
The investigation into Carey’s reentry was conducted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement Removal Operation. An indictment is merely an accusation, and Carey is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
