New York – In a move to rectify past injustices, Attorney General Letitia James is rallying current and former DoorDash delivery workers to claim their share of a $16.75 million settlement by September 30, 2025.
The landmark settlement was reached following an investigation that uncovered DoorDash’s deceptive practices, where tips intended for delivery workers were funneled into the company’s guaranteed pay system rather than directly to the Dashers.
‘New York’s delivery workers are integral to our communities, working tirelessly to bring food and other essentials directly to our doorsteps in all conditions,’ said AG James. ‘I am proud to return millions to the pockets of hardworking Dashers and ensure transparency in DoorDash’s payment practices going forward.’
The investigation revealed that between May 2017 and September 2019, DoorDash used a guaranteed pay model where tips were misused to subsidize the guaranteed pay for Dashers. Customers were misled into believing their tips would go directly to the workers.
Approximately 63,000 delivery workers who delivered food for DoorDash in New York during this period are eligible to receive funds from the settlement. The notice of the settlement has been distributed via mail, email, and text, providing instructions on how to file a claim online.
Atticus Administration is the settlement administrator handling the claims process. Dashers encountering difficulties should contact Atticus directly or reach out to 1-800-270-1039 for assistance. More information is available on OAG’s website.
