Former VA Public Official Jeffrey Reese Fisher of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to serve 15 months in federal prison followed by a year of supervised release for accepting an illegal gratuity. The sentence was imposed by the Honorable Ronald A. White, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Fisher, aged 37, was also ordered to pay $6,774.00 in restitution as part of his punishment for violating Title 18, United States Code, Sections 201(c)(1)(B) and 2. The charges stem from Fisher’s role as Chief of Prosthetics at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Muskogee, where he solicited payments from Al’s Medical, a medical supply company, for personal construction work on his residence.

The investigation leading to Fisher’s conviction was conducted by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Inspector General. Assistant United States Attorney Chris Wilson represented the United States during the sentencing hearing.

Fisher’s offense occurred between April 2009 and March 2010, a period during which he sought to personally benefit from his official position. The sentence reflects the seriousness with which such acts are viewed by federal authorities.

Judge White presided over the hearing, ensuring that justice was served according to the law. This case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences faced by public officials who abuse their positions for personal gain.

The sentencing of Fisher underscores the Department of Justice’s commitment to rooting out corruption within government institutions. His conviction and sentence are a testament to the integrity of the legal system in upholding the rule of law.
