Camden, New Jersey, is reeling from another blow in its long war against street-level drug empires as Jason Boyd, a/k/a “Teddy,” “Teddy Reek,” and “Fatboy,” admitted his role in a violent crack cocaine distribution ring operating in the city’s most blighted blocks. The 36-year-old Camden man pleaded guilty today to conspiracy to distribute cocaine base and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, according to U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman.
Boyd’s guilty plea, entered before U.S. District Judge Jerome B. Simandle in federal court, exposes the mechanics of a tightly run drug operation centered on the 1100 block of Lansdowne Avenue. Court documents reveal Boyd didn’t just sell crack—he orchestrated the entire scheme, directing underlings to push poison on the streets while he collected the cash. He also admitted to supplying other members of the conspiracy with crack and managing the flow of profits back into the organization.
Law enforcement agencies, led by the FBI’s South Jersey Violent Offender and Gang Task Force, dismantled the network after a sweeping investigation that began well before the September 2016 indictment of Boyd and seven others. During raids and surveillance, agents recovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun—tied directly to the operation—proving the enterprise was armed, dangerous, and ready to defend its territory by any means.
The stakes are high: the drug conspiracy charge carries up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine. The firearm count? A mandatory five-year sentence—tacked on consecutively, meaning no early release, no leniency. Boyd now faces sentencing on April 28, 2017, with federal prosecutors demanding full accountability.
He’s not the only one falling. Codefendant Derek Stallworth, a/k/a “AK” and “A,” 20, of Camden, already pleaded guilty on December 8, 2016, and awaits his own day of reckoning on March 24, 2017. Authorities suggest more convictions may follow as the investigation continues to unravel the network’s reach.
The case was investigated by the FBI’s South Jersey Resident Agency, Camden County Police Department, Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, and the N.J. State Police, with support from the Camden County Sheriff’s Department, Cherry Hill Police, and Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gabriel J. Vidoni is prosecuting. Boyd is represented by Jose Ongay, Esq., of Mount Ephraim, New Jersey.
