David Webb, Fugitive in Possession of Firearms, Virginia 2024

NORFOLK, Va. – David Webb, a 40-year-old convicted felon from Georgia, has pleaded guilty to being a fugitive in possession of firearms and ammunition after his capture by the U.S. Marshals at a Suffolk hotel on January 6.

Webb, who was sought for multiple outstanding warrants issued in Dekalb and Chatham County, Georgia, had evaded police on several occasions. One alarming incident involved Webb jumping out of a hotel window into an alligator-infested swamp to escape capture.

According to court documents, Webb used various aliases and false identity documents to evade law enforcement. At the time of his arrest, he was found in possession of over a dozen driver’s licenses under different names from several states, five social security cards with assumed names, a Department of Veterans Affairs identification card, and a U.S. Military Common Access Card claiming the rank of Sergeant.

During the arrest, law enforcement also seized methamphetamine, $7,300 in cash, drug packaging materials, ammunition, and three firearms, one with an obliterated serial number.

Webb faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. Sentencing is set for July 5. The plea was accepted by U.S. District Judge Raymond A. Jackson, with the prosecution handled by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney John F. Butler and Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Comstock.

The announcement was made by Dana J. Boente, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia; Mark R. Herring, Attorney General of Virginia; Michael B. Boxler, Special Agent in Charge of the ATF Washington Field Division; Robert Mathieson, U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Virginia; and Thomas E. Bennett, Chief of Suffolk Police.
