New Orleans, LOUISIANA – Ronnie Davis, a repeat offender from the Crescent City, has entered a guilty plea in federal court for violating the Federal Gun Control Act.
The case took an eerie turn on May 4, 2022, when NOPD detectives using their Real Time Crime Camera tracked down Davis while he was behind the wheel of a gray Nissan Kicks. The scene escalated as officers boxed in Davis’s vehicle and discovered a semi-automatic pistol and a Draco-style rifle.
Davis’s rap sheet is already long: In 2016, he pled guilty to illegal carrying of a weapon with a controlled substance, cocaine possession, heroin possession, and intent to distribute marijuana. Now, the former offender faces a decade behind bars, $250,000 in fines, and mandatory supervised release.
This conviction aligns with Project Safe Neighborhoods’ mission to combat violent crime and gun violence, a program that has been bolstered since May 2021. The Department of Justice’s Violent Crime Unit is leading this case, which was investigated by the FBI, Louisiana State Police, and NOPD.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Mike Trummel is handling the prosecution of Davis, who stands to pay a heavy price for his latest transgression.
